glitter ombre

hey there! I was checking out Pinterest for some ideas and I noticed that the ombre design was quite a rave. And it took me quite some time to figure it out.. As you see, the turquoise one was my first attempt and it turned out fine except that it chipped off the very next day. So, i tried once more and did it with blue glitter polish and it turned out well =) and to top it all, it has been 2 weeks and it is still in good condition without any chips.
I noticed that in most tutorials they tell you to use a sponge or an eye-shadow applicator to give the gradient effect, but i did not turn out well for me. So i tried another technique of my own and it seemed pretty easy. Here are the instructions for my technique:

You'll need:
  1. black nail paint or any dark nail paint of your choice
  2. glitter nail paint of your choice
  3. clear nail polish
  4. a disposable paintbrush (flat and small)
  5. acetone or nail polish remover
  6. a small OHP sheet or plastic sheet for using as a palette
  7. and loads of patience

Here are the steps:

  1. Apply a base coat.
  2. then apply a layer of black nail polish and put on another layer, wait till the first one dries or else your design will screw up in no time.
  3. take the plastic sheet and put some amount of clear polish on it and some glitter nail paint, this will dilute the glitter nail paint.
  4. apply the diluted nail color on your nails.
  5. next, add more glitter nailpaint to the diluted glitter nailpaint that you made earlier, and apply another coat of this. but make sure you only apply it on the upper half of the nail and paint on half of the nail. [this way the upper part of your nail will contain more nailpaint, hence the gradient effect]
  6. this is the last step and the easiest one, just take the glitter nail paint and gently dab it on the tip of your nails.
  7. last but not the least, apply a top coat to make the polish last for long!
